Summary of Opportunity

The Summer Camp Staff position is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment that is fun, culturally relevant, and empowering for all of our campers. They will provide artistic instruction, support academic activities, and deliver quality programming that is anchored in our Four Movements of Symphony: Critical Thinking, Literacy, Presentation, and Professionalism.


Summer Camp Staff programming is for elementary and middle school-aged children and is held on-site. This is a seasonal summer position.


Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated ability to both embody and efficiently incorporate TheGifted Arts Four Movements of Symphony: Critical Thinking, Literacy, Presentation, and Professionalism into daily activities

  • Supervise a group of participants while providing for the safety and well-being of all participants

  • Create, manage and deliver activities that accommodate Dance, Fashion, Drama/Theater, and Stepping/Step-dance

  • Plan and lead indoor/outdoor team building and recreational activities 

  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of all participants

  • Encourage active engagement and models responsible behavior

  • Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, age and developmentally appropriate, and consistent with the mission and values of TheGifted Arts

  • Monitor participant performance, offering both praise and constructive feedback to encourage growth and long-term engagement

  • Adhere to TheGifted Arts policies, procedures, and program standards, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, safety, cleanliness standards, and COVID-19 guidelines

  • Attends staff meetings, training, and weekly community presentations

  • Complete TheGifted Arts mandatory orientation requirements prior to onboarding


Physical Demands

Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of indoor/outdoor settings. Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range, or special accommodations made of sufficient nature for completion of assigned tasks. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly through oral and written means with an understanding of the English language. Ability to walk, run, stand, kneel, and manual dexterity. Ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds.  


Qualifications

  • At least 16 years of age

  • Previous experience working with children

  • Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: Dance, Fashion, Drama/Theater, and Stepping/Step-dance

  • Special qualifications are a plus (First Aid, CPR/AED certified) and/or training may be required 


Benefits

Summer Camp Staff in year one with TheGifted Arts will earn a base hourly wage of  $10.00/hr. This is a part-time position that does not include health benefits at this time.
