Wanda Lassiter, Treasurer

Director of Finance and Human Resources – Solid Rock Ministry International, Inc.

When asked: What is at least one aspect of TheGifted Arts mission/model that excites you most? Why did you elect to join the Board?

She answered: The transitioning of our kids' mindset, growth and development. I elected to join the Board because I totally support it's mission and vision, I have three kids that have come through or currently in the program and I've had an opportunity to witness the great things this program does and how much they have grown.

Christine Vance, Board Member

Nonprofit Development

When asked: What is at least one aspect of TheGifted Arts mission/model that excites you most? Why did you elect to join the Board?

She answered: The contact hours spent with students, truly engaging them and giving them real opportunities for growth and development. | I’d like to have the opportunity to help continue to "launch" TGA into the community and grow roots as an established non-profit in the area so it can continue to serve and reach kids.

Stanley Davis, Board Chairperson

Stanley is retired from the State of North Carolina as of 2014. He is a native of Garner, a 1974 graduate of Garner Senior High School (now Garner Magnet High), and a 1978 graduate of North Carolina State University. Stanley holds over 20 years experience with non-profit boards. He spent fourteen years with the Office of Rural Health and Community Care and has assisted non-profit boards in all aspects from writing and reviewing by-laws, auditing and reviewing board minutes, recruiting and training board members, and attending board meetings state wide.

When asked: What is at least one aspect of TheGifted Arts mission/model that excites you most? Why did you elect to join the Board?

He answered: As a child, I was unable to join the Cub Scouts as a youth in Garner, because my mother, Pearlean, a single parent could not afford the uniform. I did not have an uncle, church member, or neighbor to bridge that gap. TheGifted Arts is bridging that gap in my hometown, and I want to assist.

Kate Yuska, Board Member

Intervention Counselor, East Garner Magnet Middle School

When asked: What is at least one aspect of TheGifted Arts mission/model that excites you most? Why did you elect to join the Board?

She answered: I love seeing the active wide reach of this organization to embrace the diversity of students TGA serves. It is great to see a spotlight shown on the budding talents and watch the growth it makes to a student’s emotional well being and confidence heading into the future. The impact of the student’s witness to role models and entrepreneurship working in the community will have exponential benefit as they grow forth for our greater society.
