About Us
TheGifted Arts is a 501C3 nonprofit organization serving youth in North Carolina. TheGifted Arts provides high-quality arts education tailored to the needs of youth, with a structured, leveled curriculum that supports beginners, intermediate learners, and advanced students. Unlike many programs focused solely on technical mastery, we integrate culturally responsive practices that celebrate the traditions of Black and Brown communities while addressing systemic barriers to access and representation in the arts.
We strongly believe in the power of intention — that with racial and social justice and liberated black and brown communities, youth will magnify their personal power.
About the Role
TheGifted Arts is seeking skilled, equity-driven Teaching Artists to design and deliver dynamic arts programming that develops both technical artistry and personal identity in youth. Whether your medium is dance, spoken word, theatre, or visual arts, this role is an opportunity to lead transformative learning experiences where youth explore who they are—and who they can become.
As a Teaching Artist, you are more than an instructor. You are a guide and cultural contributor, helping young people build their confidence, expression, and self-worth through powerful, culturally responsive curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
Lead arts-based instruction in your area of expertise (e.g., dance, theater, visual art, spoken word)

Communicate proactively about student progress, needs, and support strategies

Proven background in both artistic discipline and youth facilitation
Experience leading classes or workshops in culturally diverse environments
Ability to plan, deliver, and adapt high-quality curriculum
Deep commitment to equity, cultural awareness, and student voice
A reflective teaching style and a heart for mentorship
Training & Onboarding Includes
TheGifted Arts’ Equity & Integrity Toolkit
Overview of our curriculum framework and learning objectives
Youth development strategies and classroom engagement practices
Introduction to our student transformation model:
Understand → Embrace → Transcend
