When asked: What is at least one aspect of TheGifted Arts mission/model that excites you most? Why did you elect to join the Board?

He answered: As a child, I was unable to join the Cub Scouts as a youth in Garner, because my mother, Pearlean, a single parent could not afford the uniform. I did not have an uncle, church member, or neighbor to bridge that gap. TheGifted Arts is bridging that gap in my hometown, and I want to assist.

Kate Yuska, Treasurer

Intervention Counselor, East Garner Magnet Middle School

When asked: What is at least one aspect of TheGifted Arts mission/model that excites you most? Why did you elect to join the Board?

She answered: I love seeing the active wide reach of this organization to embrace the diversity of students TGA serves. It is great to see a spotlight shown on the budding talents and watch the growth it makes to a student’s emotional well being and confidence heading into the future. The impact of the student’s witness to role models and entrepreneurship working in the community will have exponential benefit as they grow forth for our greater society.

Wanda Lassiter, Member

Director of Finance and Operations, SAFEchild

When asked: What is at least one aspect of TheGifted Arts mission/model that excites you most? Why did you elect to join the Board?

She answered: The transitioning of our kids' mindset, growth and development. I elected to join the Board because I totally support it's mission and vision, I have three kids that have come through or currently in the program and I've had an opportunity to witness the great things this program does and how much they have grown.
