During a recent working rehearsal for the Venus scene, Shadidja Parker, our Program Manager and Senior Artistic Instructor, shared invaluable insights with our students; echoing the spirit of celebration and freedom that defines this segment. Reflecting on the essence of Black joy, Shadidja emphasized its significance as more than just an emotion—it's a profound declaration of liberation and self-expression. Drawing inspiration from influential Black leaders radiating joy, she encouraged our students to embody these sentiments on stage, infusing their performances with peace, comfort, and vibrant exuberance.

Shadidja reflected on the rehearsal experience, highlighting its importance in refining the scene and clarifying the vision for the performance. "The working rehearsal was crucial for us to gain clarity and understanding," she remarked. "It's crunch time now, but I'm thrilled to see us moving forward with determination and dedication." Her unwavering commitment to excellence underscores the dedication and hard work required for success, setting the stage for a spectacular showcase of talent and joy.
